Mission Statement:

To celebrate Black culture through education, developing media literacy, and media mindfulness.

 

Key Goals:

  • Inspire, educate, and entertain through sharing untold stories, remarkable achievements, and the vibrant culture of the Black community

  • Critically discern messages communicated through mass media

  • Focus on family formation media messages

  • Build community 

And so it begins...

For years, I've taught my boys about Black history, focusing on the rich tapestry of accomplishments that often go untold. While topics like slavery and the Civil Rights movement are crucial, which are the focus at schools, they only scratch the surface of our heritage.  Those limitations do not do justice to the richness and fullness of Black history beyond the confines of pain.    

Inspired by my journey of teaching my boys at home. I aim to share stories of incredible figures famous and everyday individuals alike, highlighting the vast accomplishments and contributions through history and present day.

 

We will dissect media messaging to understand the underlying motivation for the communication and tools to decode the layers.
